The ECOmove Film Festival is based on a collaboratory agreement between the six biggest European Environmental Film Festivals in Europe. During the festival the best contributions from around Europe compete for three Royal Awards and other sponsor prizes.
The ECOmove Film Festival is held at the Sony Center in Berlin every other year, and the contributions are screened elsewhere the years in between. The first award ceremony took place from the 3rd – 5th of December 2001. From 21 August to 5 September 2002, an International delegation from ECOmove visited Johannesburg to participate actively in the Jozi Summit Film Festival, where over 30 films provided by ECOmove members were screened. The Festival was a side event of the World Summit for Sustainable Development, which drew tens of thousands of environmental experts and activists to Johannesburg from 26 August to 4 September 2002. The 2003 ECOmove festival will take place at the Sony Center in Berlin from 19-23 November.
