Continuing to create awareness in the entire Europe on the need for a sustainable environment, the Royal awards for Sustainability invites school children, art and design students and creative citizens from 31 European countries to visually express their ideas, thoughts and visions on possible sustainable environmental improvements for the future. The best posters from the 31 countries will be exhibited as part of an international contest in Copenhagen, the environmental capitol of Europe. The 31 countries invited are - or will be - members of the European Environment Agency in the near future.

If you are interested in participating in the European 2003 poster contest on tomorrow’s environment please contact us. If you want to participate in the youth contest (9-15) you can also contact your local organizer, if you have one.

The Contest

Each contest will consist of two rounds - a local national contest (if possible) and an international contest. The two national winners from the 31 invited countries will all participate in the European finals, which are to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark during the summer of 2003.

The Danish and Swedish contributions will also be competing for the Øresund regional prize.

The submitted entries can cover any one of the following topics:

  • Energy
  • Agriculture
  • Tourism

The contest itself is divided into two concurrent competitions - a youth contest ranging from the age of 9 to 15 (primary and lower-secondary students) and a contest from age 16 and above. The 16 and above contest is primarily targeted at art and design students, but is also open to others.

Exhibitions

In the summer of 2003, the two national winning posters from each country will be exhibited on Kongens Nytorv in the centre of Copenhagen, just outside the European Environment Agency offices. At the moment the Royal Awards for Sustainability are working on the possibility, that the winning posters be exposed through AFA JCDecaux in all the European countries where they are represented.
The winning posters will also be exhibited on this website. To see the exhibition from the 2002 illustration contest, please click here.

This year the winners of the international contests will receive prizes valued at Euro 1500,-.
